Cyprus Summer School brings together students from leading economic Universities for the third year

30 July, 2018

Students from Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Poland and Russia started their studies at the International Summer School "Global Finance and the Banking System". The School is organised by Dr. Kirill Zimarin, CEO of RCB Bank, under the auspices of the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Andri Anastasiades. The School, which is held in Cyprus for the third time, has already become a good tradition.

"The idea of organising the Summer School came to us several years ago, when students were taking internships in the Bank", said Dr. Zimarin. "We have built on our experience. I organised first school for students 30 years ago in Moscow University with my friends I am still working with at the Bank. Private educational initiatives are an effective economic tool for the improvement of the education and offer young people the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and practical application for their future careers. We shall invest in the younger generation and help them build the core values and competencies".

On the first day of school, students visited the Presidential Palace and met with Mrs. Andri Anastasiades. In her welcoming address, Mrs. Anastasiades wished the students to always have goals and stay focused on their dreams. She also thanked Dr. Zimarin for the initiative and continuous support to youth projects. "We are very pleased that the Summer School is fully supported by the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Andri Anastasiades, who does a lot to promote programmes aiming to improve the education system and develop intercultural ties," emphasized Dr. Zimarin.

The Summer School "Global Finance and the Banking System" is a social and educational platform for acquiring new knowledge and sharing experience and it gathers students from different countries. The highly topical programme of the School implies a unique format of learning including theoretical and interactive work with lecturers, practical tasks, as well as sightseeing. Students will learn about the latest trends in the financial system and will have a unique opportunity to meet with professors from the world’s leading universities, business leaders and market experts.

The Summer School brings together over 40 students from London School of Economics, University of Warsaw, University of Cyprus, University of Nicosia, Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Graduate School of Management of the St. Petersburg State University.

The head of the Summer School curriculum is Sir Christopher Pissarides, Regius Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences. The financial support to the School is traditionally provided by RCB Bank.
