Dear Clients,

Further to the Declaration (Form I.R.18) for Exception from the Deduction of Special Contribution for Defence on deposit interest earnings that you have completed, we wish to remind you that according to the Special Contribution for the Defence for the Republic Law 117(I)/2002, as amended, in order to continue being excepted from the said contribution, your residential status must have remained unchanged since the submission of the above mentioned declaration.

For this purpose the Questionnaire for ascertaining whether the conditions relating to the term “Non-Cyprus resident” are met for the referenced year” (Form I.R.18A Q) should be completed and submitted to the Bank. This Questionnaire must be received by the branch where the account/s is/are maintained, by 15th December the latest. The Questionnaire may either be delivered by hand or mailed to the branch.

In the case of joint accounts, a Questionnaire must be completed and submitted to the Bank by each account holder separately.

In the event that we do not receive this questionnaire by the due date, or, in case that based on the information contained on the completed questionnaire you cease to be a non-resident, the Special Contribution for Defence will be deducted retrospectively as from January 1, 2013 together with any applicable interest provided in the law for late payment and will continue to be withheld for the whole year until the form is received. Any amounts so withheld are not refundable.

Kindly note that, Form I.R.18A Q must be completed and submitted to us every year by the 15 December concerning the referenced year. Therefore, by 15 December we should receive the form duly completed for the year 2013.

We wish to stress that the submission of the form is your sole responsibility. In the event that, in any year, the Form I.R.18A Q is not received by us; we will withhold special contribution for Defence as provided in the law.

Please find attached the Questionnaire and don’t hesitate to contact us should you require any further information or assistance.
